Festival Awards Criteria
Musical Theatre Awards
- Cups, trophies and shields will be presented to the participant with the highest mark in the stated categories, provided the mark is 85 or higher.
- E. C. Irving Musical Theatre Cup and Festival Award
is presented to an outstanding Junior performer who demonstrates exceptional performance ability in a solo class. - Caldwell-Roach Shield and Festival Award
is presented to an outstanding Intermediate performer who demonstrates exceptional performance ability in a solo class - Rob Bruce Cup and Festival Award
is presented to an outstanding Senior performer who demonstrates exceptional performance ability in a solo class - Adjudicator’s Choice Award and Provincial Recommendation
are the prerogative of the Adjudicator (please see the provincial syllabus for specific criteria)
Major Awards in Piano and Voice Solo Performances
- Novice
In order to receive an award a performer must have competed in a minimum of two separate classes and the average of the top two marks must be 80 or greater - Junior
In order to receive an award a performer must have competed in a minimum of three separate classes and the average of the top three marks must be 85 or greater - Intermediate/Senior
In order to receive an award a performer must have competed in a minimum of three separate classes and the average of the top three marks must be 85 or greater - Open
In order to receive an award a performer must have competed in a minimum of three separate classes and the average of the top three marks must be 85 or greater - The Leslie Lake Searle Joy of Performance Award
is given to a performer in junior or senior high school who shows a passion for music performance. The performer must also give strong musical and artistic performances in both classical (voice or instrumental) and musical theatre (this includes Song And Dance). The performer must be supportive of his/her peers on and off stage. - The John E. Clarke and Annie L. Clarke Memorial Award is presented to
1. A male singer with changed voice, age 21 and under, who meets the qualifications for "major awards"
2. A choir of unchanged male voices, or, in the absence of a choir entry, a small group of unchanged male voices - Adjudicator’s Choice Awards and Provincial Recommendations
